Do I need a car in Helena?
To go to the conference and all of the evening events and experience downtown Helena you do not need a car. Everything from the college to the hotel to the evening events and downtown Helena is within a nice walking distance of about 1 mile max. Both of the Hotels also offer free shuttles to and from the airport. Uber is available but not many drivers in Helena. We are in the process of lining up hopefully some shuttle service to the evening events for those folks who are not walkers. If you want to get outside of Helena and experience a bit of Montana, you can rent a car at the Airport (several car companies are available).
What will the weather be like?
Great question! It could be 60 degrees or it could be snowing. Lots of unknowns this time of year in Montana. However, it does still cool down considerably at night, so having a warm jacket is always a good idea.
Can I go skiing close to Helena?
You bet. If you have a car (or a friend) you can be on a lift headed up the Great Divide Ski Area in about 35 minutes from Helena. Tickets range from about $40 -$60 depending on the day. The resort should still be open for Easter Weekend for spring skiing.
How many meals will I need to Purchase?
This actually depends on how hungry you are? In all seriousness almost all of the meals will be covered during the conference. We will have both morning and afternoon snacks and lunch every day. Evening meals are covered on Wednesday evening (Great dinner at the Montana Club) and we will have heavy appetizers on Tuesday and Thursday.
What if I don’t drink alcohol?
No worries, all of our happy hours and evening events will have standard non-alcoholic drinks and water available.
I have certain food allergies or requirements.
We will do our best to make accommodations to help you get what you need. If you have specified any dietary restrictions in your registration we have made arrangements for hotel meals. Please just talk with someone at the registration desk and let them know and we can get special foods (if needed) from the kitchen at the hotel.
What the heck is MET money and why do I want it?
Six years ago when the conference was in Helena for the first time we introduced MET money (a completely fake money system) into the conference as a way to get attendees to both interact with each other and vendors at the conference. At different points during the conference you can “EARN” MET money by helping others, asking great questions during a session, talking with vendors (they all have it at their booths) and just being an active participant. This fake money is then used to bid on over 40 items (with a retail value of over $2K total) on Thursday evening as part of a “silent auction” and then even a couple of bigger items during our “Live” auction over at the Lower Brewhouse party! It might even “rain” money at the brewhouse… just sayin.
Can I bring my significant other to the evening events?
Yes, we just need to know and we have special code for companions to attend. All we ask that you and your significant other please try and interact with the group and be a part of the event as opposed to just on the side. We got you.
