NW/MET 2024 Conference – That’s a Wrap!
Thank you for attending the NW/MET 2024 Conference. This conference – our conference, your conference – was, by any metric, the biggest NW/MET conference ever:
- 156 attendees from 54 different institutions
- 132 exhibitors representing 53 different companies
- 33 sessions
- 5 workshops
- 5 days
- 3 tours
We received an unprecedented number of applications for travel grants, demonstrating the high volume of interest in attending this conference, and were able to grant 8 full rides. We had attendees from across the United States and Canada. The NW/MET conference has become the international higher education AV and IT conference based in the Northwest.
On March 29th we hosted our annual meeting. Attendees were called upon to fill the vacancies of our President and Secretary as their terms had expired.
For the position of President, Raul Burriel of Oregon State University was nominated to another 4-year term and was re-elected to the position.
For the position of Secretary, Cassidy Hall of the University of Idaho declined to stand for re-election. Brian Myers of Portland State University was nominated to the position and was elected to a 4-year term, returning to the NW/MET executive board where he previously served. Cass remains very active in the higher education community, having recently been elected an institutional director for the Educational Technology Collaborative (formerly CCUMC) and holds the position of Former Chair for NWeLearn.
In addition to executive board elections, the members in attendance voted on the host for the NW/MET 2025 Conference. Boise State University was proposed as the host for next year’s conference, and the members in attendance voted in favor of the Boise State proposal. With this selection, Marc Cholewczynski of Oregon State University completes his tenure as Conference Director. That position now passes to Zane McCarty of Boise State University. He will be assisted by his co-director, Erika Krishnek. Watch for further announcements later in 2024.
Finally, we wrap up some loose ends…
We’ve compiled some photographs from the conference here.

We are working to recover recordings from the 2024 conference but – as with 2023 – technical issues may prevent this. We’re exploring alternatives for our recordings in 2025. If we can recover the recordings, they will be made available on the NW/MET 2024 Conference website.
Lastly, we encourage you to share your opinions in our annual conference survey here.
Attendee feedback influences and guides our planning every year, so please be liberal with your opinions!
We are grateful to everyone who attended the NW/MET 2024 Conference and contributed to its spectacular success. You each were instrumental in that success. Awareness of the conference has been largely through word-of-mouth, so tell your friends and co-workers! And…
…we look forward to seeing you in Boise in 2025!
